On March 21, 2023, at 10:00 AM, the Phrom Nimit Disaster Prevention and Relief Team collaborated with the Phrom Nimit Subdistrict Administrative Organization's Early Childhood Development Center to implement a drowning prevention program during the summer break. This program focused on educating children about the dangers of drowning, which is the second leading cause of death for children under 15 in Thailand. According to statistics, an average of 737 children drown each year, or nearly 2 children per day. The program aimed to address the fact that many children drown during the summer due to the hot weather and school holidays. Children often gather at natural water sources to play, but many lack the necessary survival skills and knowledge of how to help each other. The program provided children with drowning survival training, as well as instruction on basic rescue techniques, such as shouting for help and throwing objects. The program also emphasized the importance of caution when swimming in natural water sources.
